Picked Me Because I was Available
Election Day is here, and perhaps 1/3 of the nation will be looking for their polling places today. Half of those people are doing it so that they can take an hour or two off the job today, but that is what democratic elections are all about. I hope that readers of this site will find something constructive to do. You can watch the National Review people update the Corner constantly today, parsing the words of Chris Mathews and other talking heads. Or you can find, my own project in election live-blogging over at Comedy Central's insider blog, which will be hosting the Indecider 2006 Blog - on which I'm the token conservative.

Michael brendan I am so proud of you. You are an inspiration to all who have fought there way to the top and achieved far past their wildist imaginations. I Love you mike. Show those liberals pansies that you mean business
Cynic that I am, I paid not the slightest attention to these elections. Finding myself in a restau/bar last night, however, and glancing up at the now-ubiquitous t.v., there flashed across my eyes an ad for "dontvote.com". I got all excited! I thought, here, finally, are some souls mates! But it turned out to be a nasty trick - sad to say but not uncharacteristic - played on me by the AARP. B******ds.

Sigh. As a libertarian Republican, a performer at Improv Olympic, Second City, and the Upright Citizens Brigade, and a soon to be law student (oh ya know, this implies that I must have some grey matter), I'm annoyed by the TOKEN part. Although I suppose we could just take this to mean that they are closed minded, bigoted, and lacking some grey matter. Motherfuckers.

Oops. I just read your comment policy. I am a libertarian in a burberry scarf (hat) with an overused ipod (number 6).

One afternoon, I was in the backyard hanging the laundry when an old, tired-looking dog wandered into the yard. I could tell from his collar and well-fed belly that he had a home. But when I walked into the house, he followed me, sauntered down the hall and fell asleep in a corner. An hour later, he went to the door, and I let him out. The next day he was back. He resumed his position in the hallway and slept for an hour.
This continued for several weeks. Curious, I pinned a note to his collar: "Every afternoon your dog comes to my house for a nap. "
The next day he arrived with a different note pinned to his collar: "He lives in a home with ten children - he's trying to catch up on his sleep."

I cried from laughter
